The New Jersey Legislature enacted on January 17, 2012 “[a]n Act concerning title recordation and revising various parts of the statutory law.” P.L. 2011, C. 217. Within the legislation was a provision that vested the chief recording officer of the County with the discretion when to implement the requirement of a cover sheet, but in no event later than five (5) years following the effective date of the Act. May 1, 2017 will be the last day for every county recording officer to effect the necessary change within the County system to comply with the cover- sheet requirement.
